How to Motivate Employees to be More Productive

A monotonous lifestyle can take a toll on the life of an employee, it’s quite boring to follow the same old routine every day with the same old tasks. The workload and the stress that comes along can significantly impact the productivity of your employees. Therefore, as leaders, you must try and build constructive relationships with your employees to help them to perform better. It is extremely easy for employees to lose their motivation to work efficiently in a cold and unambitious environment. The fog of their dull everyday work can majorly blur their vision to view things in a different perspective. Motivation is hard to build among those who have lost interest in their jobs and they do not enjoy their work. Hence, to add a bit of excitement and bring up the enthusiasm levels, you need to work on a plan that will help your employees to loosen up a bit and give in their best. After all, if they give in their 100 percent to their job, it is you who reaps the ultimate benefits of their hard work and efforts. So, before their productivity drops further, you need to make a move and motivate them. How? Here are some ideas:

Restructure jobs

Sitting at the same desk and doing the same kind of work can be a silent killer of motivation. Try to switch roles to suit their talents and skills or something that they may enjoy doing. Job-sharing and cross-training are valuable tools to keep up the spirits.

Acknowledge their achievements

Never let the achievement of an employee be gone without an appraisal. Encourage your team members to appreciate the good work of their colleagues too. Throw in a small celebration, be it a simple lunch with the team to acknowledge their achievements.

Ignore their blunders

Try to let go of the small mistakes made by your employees- forgive and forget. Do not bring up the past mistakes as well, as this will demotivate the employee.

Get personal with your team

Take a break once in a while to enjoy other things like watching a soccer match at work or discussing something else other than work. Celebrate birthdays at work to show that you really care.

Set realistic goals and challenge them

You can motivate your employees by setting targets for them and challenging them to complete their tasks within a fixed period of time.

Offer rewards for good performers

When an applaud is just not enough, try to encourage your employees by monetary incentives. This is a sure shot way to get them moving!

Hear out their ideas

Treat your employees like an integral part of your business system and listen to them when they have any ideas. Supporting new ideas and giving an employee a chance to speak up is indeed very motivating.

Show them how to do it

Be a good example of how to be efficient at work. If you can’t stay in the office till late to complete a certain project, don’t expect them to make such sacrifices too.

Kick out the boredom

Make your office a fun place to be, get creative and encourage your employees to join too. Don’t let them be bored, dull minds can never get productive at work.

  1. Hi there would you mind sharing which blog platform you’re working with?

I’m looking to start my own blog in the near future but I’m having a difficult time making a decision between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal.
The reason I ask is because your design seems different then most blogs and I’m looking for
something completely unique. P.S Apologies for being off-topic but
    I had to ask! http://bing.net
